A Financial Sponsors Group, or FSG, covers private equity firms and other investment firms known as financial sponsors. These clients acquire companies, improve or grow them, and eventually seek an exit through a sale, recapitalization, or initial public offering.
FSG bankers maintain sponsor relationships and identify opportunities across a bank’s products. Depending on the firm, they may work with industry coverage teams, mergers and acquisitions bankers, leveraged finance, equity capital markets, and debt capital markets. The division of modeling and execution responsibilities varies by bank, so avoid claiming every FSG operates the same way.
